How to book a consultation

You can be referred via your GP, optician or, if self-paying, you may refer yourself.

If your GP refers you, the GP surgery will send or fax a letter to Mr McMullan at the Three Shires. You will then be sent an appointment by the Three Shires outpatients department.

If you are self-referring, please telephone the Three Shires Hospital outpatients reception desk on 01604 885003. They hold Mr McMullan’s central diary so will be able to give you an appointment date and time immediately.

If, however, you have any problems in getting through, please contact Mr McMullan’s PA, Lucinda, on 01788 510143.

Mr McMullan consults at the Three Shires on Thursday mornings.

He can also offer consultations at Northampton General Hospital or at Danetre Hospital, as a private patient, on an ad hoc basis (usually in the evenings) although this does incur an extra cost of £23 billed to you directly by the hospital. If you would prefer this option please contact Lucinda on the number above.

Please note, if you have medical insurance you will need to contact your insurance provider to obtain pre-authorisation.

Tristan McMullan

Tristan McMullan offers a comprehensive ocular plastic surgery and general ophthalmology and cataract practice based primarily at the Three Shires Hospital, Northampton. Tristan's practice is patient-focused rather than condition-focused and he strives to deliver beyond expectations. Tristan trained on the Cambridge rotation, has a PhD in genetics and has a UK and US fellowship behind him. This makes him extremely well qualified to help you.
